Is it the competition, a shot at a record deal, the lure of fame and fortune? And some of these are even (gulp) pay-to-play. Maybe Rory Lake’s Battle of the Bands is somewhat of a social experiment? For the guys at Rory Lake Presents and MP Productions, it’s not the bands that they toy with at their battle, but the ridiculous nature of the battle between bands itself. They set out to create the ultimate rock ‘n’ roll variety show, and accomplish this mission by calling to arms a ragtag troop of rockin’ bands, a colorful cast of judges and Rory Lake as emcee. There’s practically a mini-film fest that kicks off the show every year featuring Rory’s spit-take inducing introduction as well as fun-filled bio clips about the judges.
